Fort Lauderdale Fishing Report- Big Bite Off Ft Lauderdale Beach

Cobia caught drift fishing

This big cobia was caught drift fishing the reef of Ft Lauderdale

Outstanding fishing off the coast of Fort Lauderdale this week.  Our daily drift fishing trips aboard the Catch My Drift are catching lots of kingfish, bonitos and some nice snappers.  We’re getting the best bites drifting in 180 foot of water, with pretty steady action on kings, and then we’ll get obliterated by a school of bonitos that moves through and every line will go off.  The guys fishing on the bottom are picking at the snappers pretty good.  Some good sized yellowtail and mangroves snappers are coming up, and a big mutton sometimes.  Several of the drift trips have caught cobia this week, the night anchor trip too.

Giant warsaw grouper

Capt. Rod, John and anglers with a 108 lb warsaw grouper

Our sportfishing boats, the Big Game and Out of the Blue are killing them this week.  The Big Game caught a humongous Warsaw grouper that weighed 108 pounds.  The Fort Lauderdale wrecks are holding big amberjacks, warsaw/black grouper and some cobia.  Great offshore fishing this week too with some big mahi-mahi dolphin and some good size wahoo too.  We’ve got about 3 more weeks of great reef and offshore action until the big fish of September start moving in to take over (Sailfish and Tuna).  Good luck fishing everyone, I’ll sea ya on the water.
